About Us
The Northeastern Ontario Rectal and Colon Specialists (NEORCS) are colorectal surgeons who provide the most advanced and reliable care in colorectal surgery to the population of Northern Ontario. Through a careful process at Health Sciences North (HSN), the Department of General Surgery has formed a colorectal team of the highest quality and expertise to provide care for those Northerners in need of complex subspecialty therapy for their colorectal problems.

Minimally Invasive
Surgery (MIS)
Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) has become a very popular alternative for many conditions. When MIS can be utilized instead of open surgery, it comes with significant advantages, such as decreased post-operative pain, quicker recovery, decreased length of stay in hospital, and better cosmesis. NEORCS is committed to provide MIS techniques to patients whenever possible. We are specialized in laparoscopic surgery, Trans-Anal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS) and trans-anal Total Mesorectal Excision (taTME). These approaches are combined with our Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol.
